More Progress in the Master Bedroom

Finally! I waited all week for my 'new' quilt. It finally came on Saturday! I put quotes on "new" because it is new for me but not new, new. I have looked and looked for a quality white quilt that I liked. Oh, yes, I found some but the prices are outrageous! I found this one on eBay - it is Pinecone Hill Victoria and sells for..... $430! Gasp! The lady I bought this from had it listed for $150. That was still too high for me. I mean, it's used after all. So, I emailed her and asked her if she would consider a 'Best Offer' option on her listing. She emailed back and said she would add it to the listing and $80 was her lowest price. Since her listing specifically said that it was in LIKE NEW condition, I agreed. That is still a lot for a used quilt in my opinion, but I really liked it and it was cheaper than any of the other options. (Ones I didn't like so well but were new.) So, here it is.

The shams came from TJMaxx and the ruffle pillow was a Groopdealz deal of the day a couple weeks ago. I have never had shams and pretty pillows on my bed and after I made it up like this, my almost 6 year old son told me it looked like a bed in a store. I think he meant it as a compliment. I would like to add another pillow (or 2) but for now this is what it looks like.

And to show how far I've come so far, here is a before and after:

Before

After
I still have a lot of projects to complete before I can show you the 'reveal'. (Like the chair peaking around the corner of this picture.) For now, I'm very happy with my new look. My husband complimented me saying it looks like a designer bedroom. Weeeellll, now, that's going too far. :) But I'm glad he likes it as well as I do. I admit he was very dubious about a gray bedroom.

Here's another 'after' at a slightly different angle:
Um, yeah, no bathroom door.... yet.

So, there's my progress report for this week.

EDIT: Full Reveal here.

I'll be linking to these parties - come join me!

  10. The bedroom turned out beautiful! You might want to do a little research on what you call "a used quilt". That is not what it is and you may have really scored! The "quilt" is actually a Matelasse spread and the pattern is somewhat unique. A good antique dealer who knows linens, etc. would be able to give you more info. These usually sell for hundreds more, so consider yourself gifted and it just makes that bedroom with that lovely furniture.

  14. The quilt is beautiful. I've had a similar one on my bed for years and it's still a favorite. There is just something wonderful about crisp white quilt that melts me inside - know what I mean?

By the way, I love the color on the walls in your bedroom. the room as a whole is looking wonderful and I have a little envy towards that light fixture. It's gorgeous.

  19. This is simply beautiful!

I am jealous.:) I am SO ready to be done with all the red and golds in my bedroom.

    Your bedroom transformation is incredible!

I am stuck with all the oak furniture and trim in my bedroom and so I never thought I could pull a look like this. Now I am thinking that I can, thanks to seeing what you have done.

I am a huge fan of the matelasse coverlets like yours, especially with the scalloped edge.

I have one on my bed (gold-blah) and one on DD's bed. I found mine on clearance at Elder Beerman. Those buggers are expensive for sure. I think you got a very good deal on yours.

Can't wait to see the rest of your bedroom re-do!

Will you share the name and brand of your paint color? I will re-read your older posts and see if you mentioned it.

  20. Okay, I found the paint brand and color name in your older post. :)

I just wanted to add that your single window above the bed looks like a double in the after pics.
You really "opened" it up with your curtain placement. What a great idea!
