What a busy time! It feels like forever since I've posted and I just wanted to check in and let y'all know I'm still alive and well. I've been doing busy summer things and not really 'projecting'. The canning and preserving season has started and, while I don't do a lot, it's still extra work that cuts out time for other things. So far, I've only canned some sweet cherries and put 18 pints of blueberries in the freezer. I had enough strawberry jam left from last year so that was nice not to have to wade into that sticky mess. :)

I GOT A SILHOUETTE CAMEO!
Yes, you read that right and yes, I'm THAT excited about it! :) No, I didn't get it for a toy; we could never justify spending that much on a toy. Let me explain.
DH has bought a semi truck and will be going back to over-the-road trucking. He looked into getting his truck lettered per Federal requirements and got a price of +/- $600. I gulped a few times and told him I could do it cheaper if he'd let me. I admit, he was dubious that I could actually do it but I knew about the wonder machine (aka Cameo) and never wavered in my opinion that I could do it. When he saw how certain I was, he consented to let me get the machine and letter his truck. WOOT WOOT! For half that estimate price, he's in business.

The 2 older boys are very pleased to have their names on the back of the bunk. |
So far, I have only used the Cameo to letter the truck (which is far from a professional job but serves the purpose) and make a stick figure family for the back of our van. I would love to play around with it and see what all it can do but that will have to wait until winter when things slow down a bit.

So there's my random post of some of the things that are occupying my time. I won't be blogging much in the next few weeks as I try to get the bathroom ready for my brother-in-law to work but I'll be taking pictures and will show you what I'm up to in due time. :)
Thanks for reading and have a blessed day!

I think you did a wonderful job with the truck!
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a professional job, whether you think so or not! Perhaps you could do some other 'odd jobs' and your machine will be paid for in no time. No hurry. I used to do a lot of canning when all the kids were home. Now, it is 'almost' as cheap to buy my fruit as we don't use as much and with the cost of the fresh fruit, supplies and energy used, it is not as cost effective for us. Looking forward to seeing what happens to that bathroom. By the way, Between Naps on the Porch did a post about 'mouse over pictures' and how to do it. It would be 'cool' if you did one with a before and after. Take care and have a blessed day.
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job with his truck, looks very professional! And I can't wait to see the progress on the bathroom!
