If you follow me on Pinterest, you may have noticed that I pinned some vinyl on glass signs recently. I absolutely love the look of them. I tried my first one on my apothecary cabinet door. That one turned out so well that I decided to make another one. I really wanted to use a chippy old window but I couldn't find one. (I'm still looking!)
On Tuesday afternoon, I decided last minute to go to an auction to see if I could find any old windows. I didn't find windows but I did find an old picture frame that looked a little like a window frame. It was with a bunch of other pictures and the auctioneer was selling choice. The first winning bid was higher than I wanted to pay so I held my breath and hoped the lady wouldn't pick the one I wanted. She didn't, and I won the next round and got to choose the one I wanted.
I brought it home and got to work. I removed the picture that was in it and caulked the glass permanently in place. I wanted it to look chippy but I'm not good with paint and it took several attempts to get it halfway looking like I wanted. Using white ASCP (left from another project), I slapped a couple coats of paint on and then used steel wool to distress it.

I had already used my Silhouette software to design a sign and was just waiting to use it. I got some white vinyl and cut my sign in two sections since it is 'taller' than 12" (the widest vinyl the Cameo can take). The font I chose for the main word in the sign was a PAIN to 'weed', but so worth it in the end result. I LOVE how it turned out. I can see it hanging in a farmhouse or cottage kitchen.
I really want to keep it BUT.....
